TEMPUR-MED mattress in the operating room, Uppsala, Sweden
We have used the TEMPUR-MED mattress on the operating table of the ear-operating room in the Uppsala University Hospital for the last four months. The mattress has been used for patients that have undergone long (6-9 hours) operations, as the risk for pressure sores is very high in these cases. The skin of the heels, sacrum and shoulder blades is especially prone to developing pressure sores. Over this period, 52 patients have been operated on while lying on the TEMPUR mattress and none of them have complained of pain or stiffness, nor have any of them developed pressure sores as a result of their operations. Patients that suffer from rheumatoid arthritis often complain of body pain after operations, but several of these patients have spontaneously commented on how comfortable the TEMPUR-MED mattress was.

Perhaps the most common injury we see is neck and back pain. Previously, treatment consisted of muscle-relaxing, analgesic and other medication. Now, the Tempur mattress has, for the first time, given us an alternative to traditional medication-based treatment. I have achieved excellent results with my patients with back pain. I even sleep on the mattress myself.

As a neurosurgeon who sees many patients with neck and back pain, as well as spinal problems, I was delighted to discover the Tempur mattress. This mattress is clearly superior as regards comfort and support, and in comparison to my mattresses at home and the foam mattresses I have tried at the hospital. I cannot remember the last time I was as enthusiastic about recommending a brand of mattress as I am about the Tempur mattress.
